How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose. A typical starting dose for pain is one 10 mg/5 mg tablet, twice a day, every 12 hours.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet, as this can be dangerous. Some strengths can be split in half if your doctor tells you to, but never chew or crush.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose. For pain, the maximum daily dose is usually 160 mg of oxycodone hydrochloride and 80 mg of naloxone hydrochloride.

Possible Side Effects

  • Decreased appetite
  • Difficulty sleeping, tiredness
  • Headache, dizziness, drowsiness
  • Stomach pain, constipation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dry mouth, gas
  • Itching, sweating
RARE
  • Allergic reactions
  • Feeling restless, anxious, confused, depressed
  • Shaking (tremor), speech problems, fainting
  • Blurred vision
  • Chest pain, fast heartbeat
  • Changes in blood pressure (low or high)
  • Difficulty breathing, runny nose, cough
  • Muscle cramps, muscle pain
  • Withdrawal symptoms (like feeling agitated)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to oxycodone hydrochloride, naloxone hydrochloride, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe breathing problems, severe chronic lung disease, or severe liver problems.
  • Avoid alcohol and certain other medicines (like sedatives). They can make side effects worse, cause serious breathing problems, and can be life-threatening.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor first. Stopping suddenly can cause withdrawal symptoms like restlessness, sweating, and muscle pain.
  • This medicine contains an opioid. It can cause dependence or addiction, even when used as prescribed.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 24.3.2025)
