How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 10 mg oxycodone hydrochloride/5 mg naloxone hydrochloride every 12 hours.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not chew or crush it. Some strengths can be split in half if your doctor says so. Take it every 12 hours, for example, at 8 AM and 8 PM, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than 160 mg of oxycodone hydrochloride and 80 mg of naloxone hydrochloride in one day, unless your doctor tells you a different maximum dose.

  • Fatigue or weakness
  • Dizziness, headache, or drowsiness
  • Hot flashes
  • Stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, or dry mouth
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Itching or sweating
RARE
  • Allergic reactions
  • Anxiety, confusion, or depression
  • Restlessness or nervousness
  • Decreased sex drive
  • Seizures or tremors
  • Blurred vision
  • Chest pain or fast heartbeat
  • Low or high blood pressure
  • Difficulty breathing or shallow breathing during sleep (sleep apnea)
  • Muscle cramps or muscle pain
  • Withdrawal symptoms like agitation or sweating
  • Swelling in hands, ankles, or feet
  • Changes in weight (gain or loss)
  • Feeling very happy (euphoria) or having hallucinations
  • Difficulty urinating or erectile dysfunction

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to oxycodone, naloxone, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe breathing problems (like very slow or shallow breathing, or severe asthma or lung disease).
  • Do not take if you have severe liver problems or a type of bowel blockage not caused by opioids.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of drug or alcohol abuse.
  • Taking this medicine with alcohol or sedatives can make you very sleepy, cause severe breathing problems, or even lead to coma or death.

  • Do not crush, chew, or split the tablets (unless your doctor says certain strengths can be split), as this can release too much medicine at once and be dangerous.
  • This medicine can make you sleepy or cause you to fall asleep suddenly. Do not drive or operate machinery if this happens.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 24.3.2025)
