How to Use

Dosage

One capsule (0.4 mg) once a day.

Method

Take the capsule whole with a glass of water after breakfast or your first meal. Swallow it while standing, do not chew or crush it.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness
  • Abnormal ejaculation, including semen going into the bladder or inability to ejaculate.
RARE
  • Headache
  • Heart palpitations (feeling your heart beat fast or strong)
  • Low blood pressure when standing up, which can make you feel dizzy, weak, or faint.
  • Runny nose
  • Constipation, diarrhea, nausea (feeling sick), vomiting
  • Skin rash, itching, hives
  • Feeling weak
  • Fainting
  • Severe allergic reaction (angioedema) causing sudden swelling of the hands, feet, lips, tongue, or throat, leading to breathing problems, itching, and rash.
  • Painful, long-lasting erection (priapism).
  • Widespread blistering and peeling skin rash, especially around the mouth, nose, eyes, and genitals (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), or severe skin inflammation (erythema multiforme).
  • Blurred or reduced vision.
  • Nosebleed
  • Dry mouth
  • Peeling skin inflammation (exfoliative dermatitis).
  • Unusual irregular heartbeat (e.g., atrial fibrillation, arrhythmia, fast heartbeat).
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Small pupil syndrome, where the pupil does not widen well and the iris becomes floppy during cataract surgery.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to tamsulosin or any other ingredients.
  • If you feel dizzy, weak, or faint when standing up, sit or lie down until you feel better.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe kidney problems.
  • If you are having eye surgery for cataracts or glaucoma, tell your eye doctor that you are taking or have taken Tamictor.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Significant adverse effects include orthostatic hypotension and dizziness. Increases risk of falls. Consider potential interactions especially with antihypertensives. (updated 25.11.2024)
