How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one 200 mg capsule once a day, but sometimes one 100 mg capsule a day is enough.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with liquid. You can take them with or without food.

Important

The maximum dose is two 200 mg capsules per day (400 mg/day).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness, which is usually temporary.
  • Vision problems, like double vision or blurred vision.
  • Heart rhythm disorders.

RARE
  • Nausea.

  • Allergic skin reactions, such as rash.
  • Hair loss (alopecia).
  • Decreased red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets.
  • Hallucinations.
  • Depression.
  • Confusion.
  • Agitation.
  • Memory loss.
  • Insomnia.
  • Sensory disturbances.
  • Clumsiness (ataxia).
  • Weakened sense of touch (hypoesthesia).
  • Increased sweating.
  • Fainting.
  • Tremors.
  • Facial flushing.
  • Sleepiness.
  • Headache.
  • Peripheral nerve dysfunction.
  • Seizures.
  • Involuntary movements (dyskinesias).
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
  • Pneumonia.
  • Increased liver enzyme values, with or without yellow skin/eyes (jaundice).
  • Severe hives (urticaria).
  • Increased DNA antibodies, with or without body-wide inflammation.
  • Sensitivity to light.
  • Deposits in the cornea of the eye.
  • Changes in heart tracing (ECG) depending on the dose.
  • Heart conduction problems.
  • Cardiac arrest.
  • Fast or slow heart rate.
  • Worsening heart failure.
  • Chest pain.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Heart attack.
  • Palpitations.
  • Ventricular fibrillation.
  • Hidden Brugada syndrome appearing.
  • Lung diseases (e.g., scarring of the lungs).
  • Liver failure.
  • Joint pain.
  • Muscle pain.

Important Warnings

  • If you are allergic to flecainide or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • If you have heart problems causing very low blood pressure or a slow heart rate.
  • If you have Brugada syndrome (a condition that makes you prone to severe heart rhythm problems).
  • If you have heart failure.
  • If you have problems with your heart's electrical signals, like sick sinus syndrome or AV block.

  • If you've had extra heartbeats after a heart attack, like ventricular premature beats or ventricular tachycardia.
  • If you have had long-term atrial fibrillation that hasn't been treated to restore a normal rhythm.
  • If you have a severe heart valve problem.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Start the treatment only in specialized care. Risk of QT prolongation. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. A significant adverse effect is torsades de pointes ventricular tachycardia. Consider the numerous potential interactions. (updated 19.5.2025)
