How to Use

Dosage

Usually, you take one 200 mg capsule once a day. Sometimes, one 100 mg capsule a day is enough.

Method

Swallow the whole capsule with liquid. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than two 200 mg capsules (400 mg in total) in one day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling dizzy (usually gets better).
  • Vision problems, like seeing double or blurry.
  • Changes in your heart rhythm.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Feeling weak or tired.
  • Fever.
  • Swelling.
RARE
  • Feeling sick to your stomach, throwing up, constipation, stomach ache, not wanting to eat, diarrhea, heartburn, gas.
  • Allergic skin reactions, such as rashes or severe itchy red bumps (hives).
  • Hair loss.
  • A decrease in red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets (parts of your blood).
  • Seeing or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations), feeling sad (depression), confusion, feeling restless, forgetfulness, trouble sleeping.
  • Problems with your sense of touch, clumsiness, or a weaker sense of touch.
  • Sweating more than usual, fainting, shaking (tremors), red face, feeling sleepy, headache.
  • Nerve problems in your arms and legs (peripheral neuropathy), seizures, uncontrollable movements.
  • Ringing in your ears.
  • Lung inflammation or lung diseases, such as lung scarring (fibrosis).
  • High liver enzyme levels (with or without yellow skin/eyes), liver failure.
  • Increased levels of certain antibodies in your blood (DNA antibodies), with or without body-wide inflammation.
  • Sensitivity to light.
  • Deposits in the clear front part of your eye (cornea).
  • Changes in your heart's electrical signals seen on an ECG, depending on the dose.
  • Heart conduction problems, cardiac arrest (heart stops), fast or slow heart rate, heart failure, chest pain, low blood pressure, heart attack, feeling your heart pound, very fast and irregular heartbeat in the lower chambers (ventricular fibrillation).
  • A hidden heart condition called Brugada syndrome appearing.
  • Joint pain, muscle pain.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to flecainide or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have heart failure, very low blood pressure, or a very slow heart rate.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have Brugada syndrome (a rare heart condition that can cause severe rhythm problems).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have certain heart conduction problems, like sick sinus syndrome or AV block.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have had extra heartbeats or rapid heart rhythms in your ventricles after a heart attack.

  • Do not take this medicine if you have a long-lasting irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) that has not been changed back to a normal rhythm.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a severe heart valve problem.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Start the treatment only in specialized care. Risk of QT prolongation. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. A significant adverse effect is torsades de pointes ventricular tachycardia. Consider the numerous potential interactions. (updated 19.5.2025)
