How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one 100 mg tablet twice a day (200 mg per day), but sometimes 50 mg twice a day (100 mg per day) is enough.

Method

Swallow the tablets with liquid. You can take Tambocor with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is two 100 mg tablets twice a day (a total of 400 mg per day).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness (usually goes away)
  • Vision problems (like double vision or blurred vision)
  • New or worse heart rhythm problems
  • Shortness of breath
  • Weakness or tiredness
  • Fever
  • Swelling
RARE
  • Feeling sick (nausea, vomiting, stomach pain)
  • Skin rash or other allergic reactions
  • Hair loss
  • Changes in mood (like depression, confusion, feeling restless)
  • Headache
  • Shaking (tremor)
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Severe hives (itchy rash)
  • Heart problems like heart failure, chest pain, or very fast/slow heartbeat

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Tambocor if you are allergic to flecainide or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take Tambocor if you have heart failure or a very slow heart rate with low blood pressure.
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Tambocor if you have ever had a heart attack or a structural heart disease.
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Tambocor if you have kidney or liver problems.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Start the treatment only in specialized care. Risk of QT prolongation. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. A significant adverse effect is torsades de pointes ventricular tachycardia. Consider the numerous potential interactions. (updated 19.5.2025)
