How to Use

Dosage

Put one drop into the affected eye(s) once a day in the evening.

Method

Wash your hands. Tilt your head back. Gently pull your lower eyelid down and look up. Squeeze the bottle softly to release one drop into the space between your lower eyelid and eye. Do not swallow the drops.

Important

Do not use more than one drop per day in the evening, or more often than your doctor tells you.

  • Vision not as sharp as usual
  • Change in the color of your eye's iris (can be permanent)
RARE
  • Skin around your eyes changes color
  • Swollen eyelids
  • Tired eyes
  • Swelling of the clear layer covering your eye (conjunctiva)
  • Eye discharge
  • Eyelid inflammation
  • Signs of inflammation inside your eye
  • Uncomfortable feeling in your eye
  • Dark spots on the clear layer covering your eye (conjunctiva)
  • Small blisters on the clear layer covering your eye (conjunctiva)
  • Allergic inflammation
  • Abnormal feeling in your eye
  • Unusual hair growth on your eyelids
  • Inflammation of the iris/uvea (the middle layer of the eye)
  • Eyes appear sunken
  • Swelling of the retina (macular edema) inside the eye, which can worsen vision
  • Asthma getting worse, shortness of breath

Important Warnings

  • Do not use these drops if you are allergic to tafluprost or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • These drops may make your eyelashes longer, thicker, darker, or more numerous. They can also cause hair to grow unusually on your eyelids.
  • The skin around your eyes may get darker. Wipe off any extra liquid from your skin to help stop this.
  • Your eye color (iris) may change permanently, especially if you only use the drops in one eye.
  • If you can become pregnant, use reliable birth control while using this medicine. Do not use these drops if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Your vision might get blurry for a short time after putting in the drops. Do not drive or use machines until your vision is clear again.
  • These drops have phosphates, which can rarely cause cloudy spots on the clear front part of your eye (cornea) if it is badly damaged.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Start and continue therapy under supervision by an ophthalmologist. May cause changes in iris pigmentation and excessive growth of eyelashes. (updated 4.12.2023)
