Tadalafil Sandoz is a medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction, symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia, and high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary arterial hypertension).

How to Use

Dosage

For erectile dysfunction, either one 10 mg or 20 mg tablet as needed before sexual activity, or one 5 mg tablet once daily. For benign prostatic hyperplasia, one 5 mg tablet once daily. For pulmonary arterial hypertension, two 20 mg tablets once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. It can be taken with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than one dose per day. For pulmonary arterial hypertension, the maximum daily dose is two 20 mg tablets taken once daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Back pain
  • Muscle aches, pain in arms and legs
  • Facial flushing (redness)
  • Blocked nose
  • Indigestion or stomach upset
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Dizziness
RARE
  • Blurred vision or eye pain
  • Erection lasting more than 4 hours
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat, low or high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, sudden cardiac death
  • Sudden decrease or loss of vision or hearing
  • Severe allergic reactions (like rash, swelling of face or throat)
  • Blood in urine or semen, penile bleeding
  • Seizures or temporary memory loss
  • Fainting
  • Nosebleeds
  • Swelling of hands, feet, or ankles

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to tadalafil or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are taking medicines called nitrates or 'nitros' for chest pain, as this medicine can dangerously increase their effects.
  • Do not take if you have a serious heart condition, have had a heart attack in the last 90 days, or a stroke in the last 6 months.
  • Stop taking Tadalafil Sandoz and contact your doctor immediately if you experience sudden decrease or loss of vision or hearing.
  • If you have an erection that lasts for more than 4 hours, contact a doctor immediately.

  • Sexual activity can put a strain on your heart, so talk to your doctor if you have heart problems and are taking this medicine for erectile dysfunction.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Reduce the dose in liver impairment. Significant adverse reactions include hypotension, ortostatic hypotension, headache and visual disturbances. Consider the numerous potential interactions,especially with nitrates. Avoid grapefruit.
