How to Use

Dosage

One 1 ml injection every three weeks.

Method

Given as a deep injection into a muscle (e.g., buttocks, thigh, or upper arm). This injection is only given by a doctor or nurse.

Important

This medicine is not taken daily. The maximum dose is 1 ml every three weeks.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Increased red blood cells, hematocrit (percentage of red blood cells in blood), and hemoglobin (oxygen-carrying part of red blood cells), found in regular blood tests.
RARE
  • Itching
  • Acne
  • Nausea
  • Changes in liver function tests
  • Changes in cholesterol levels
  • Depression, nervousness, mood changes
  • Muscle pain
  • Fluid retention (swollen ankles or feet)
  • High blood pressure
  • Changes in sexual desire
  • Abnormally long-lasting, painful erection
  • Disturbed sperm production
  • Breast enlargement in men (feminization)
  • Prostate enlargement
  • Increased prostate cancer markers (PSA)
  • Accelerated growth of an undetected prostate cancer tumor
  • Reactions at the injection site
  • Early sexual development (in children/adolescents)
  • Penis enlargement (in children/adolescents)

  • Slowed growth (stunted height) (in children/adolescents)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Sustanon if you have or have had prostate or breast cancer, or if such cancer is suspected.
  • Do not use Sustanon if you are allergic to testosterone esters, peanut oil, soy, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use this medicine to enhance athletic performance. It can cause serious health problems, including heart and blood vessel problems, mental health issues, or liver damage, and can lead to death. It can also cause dependence.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart, liver, or kidney problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, epilepsy, migraines, or sleep problems (like sleep apnea), as testosterone may worsen these conditions.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had blood clots or if you are at an increased risk of getting them (e.g., smoking, overweight, cancer, hereditary tendency). Seek immediate medical attention if you notice symptoms of a blood clot.

  • Your doctor will regularly check your prostate during Sustanon treatment, as testosterone can enlarge the prostate.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D
