How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much to take.

Method

Take the capsules or tablets with a glass of water.

Important

Do not take more than your doctor tells you.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Tiredness, drowsiness
  • Sleeplessness
  • Milk production or breast pain
  • Parkinson-like symptoms, such as tremors or physical restlessness
  • Constipation
  • Weight gain
  • Rash
  • Abnormal coordination or involuntary muscle movements
RARE
  • Muscle stiffness, involuntary movements, eye spasms, seizures, stiff neck or jaw, muscle weakness, confusion
  • Low blood pressure when standing up, irregular heartbeats, blood clots (in legs or lungs), heart problems (shown on ECG), cardiac arrest, sudden death, high blood pressure
  • Unusually high saliva, enlarged breasts, sexual or menstrual problems, too much hormone causing more urination, low salt in the blood
  • Liver problems, pneumonia from inhaling food, muscle breakdown leading to kidney issues, increased muscle enzymes, low white blood cells, severe allergic reactions (hives, trouble breathing, low blood pressure, severe shock)

Important Warnings

  • Tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, bowel problems, urinary issues, an enlarged prostate, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, kidney disease, heart disease, or a family history of an irregular heartbeat (long QT syndrome).
  • Do not use this medicine if you have porphyria (a rare blood disorder).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you get an unexplained fever or infection.
  • Use with caution in elderly patients.
  • If you have diabetes or are at risk of diabetes, your blood sugar should be checked regularly.

  • Tell your doctor if you or your family have a history of blood clots, as this medicine can cause them.
  • Also tell your doctor if you have had breast cancer or if it runs in your family.
  • This medicine can cause a serious condition called neuroleptic malignant syndrome (fever, stiff muscles, fast breathing, sweating). Stop taking it and contact your doctor immediately if this happens.
  • This medicine can make you tired, affecting your ability to drive or use machines.
  • If you have a sugar intolerance (lactose), talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy or if you are a woman of childbearing age not using effective contraception.
  • Do not breastfeed while taking Suprium.
