How to Use

Dosage

For stomach/intestine or kidney cancer, the usual dose is 50 mg once daily for 28 days, followed by a 14-day break. For pancreatic cancer, the usual dose is 37.5 mg once daily with no breaks.

Method

Take the capsule whole with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 50 mg, as prescribed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Decreased blood cell counts (platelets, red, and white blood cells).
  • Shortness of breath.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Severe tiredness, weakness.
  • Swelling due to fluid buildup under the skin and around the eyes, severe allergic skin rash.
  • Mouth pain/irritation, mouth sores/inflammation/dryness, taste changes, stomach problems, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain or swelling, loss of appetite.
  • Underactive thyroid.
  • Dizziness.
  • Headache.
  • Nosebleeds.
  • Back pain, joint pain, limb pain.
  • Yellowing/discoloration of skin, increased skin pigmentation, hair color changes, rash on palms and soles, dry skin.
  • Cough.
  • Fever.
  • Difficulty sleeping.
RARE
  • Blood clots in blood vessels, which can lead to problems like heart attack or stroke.
  • Severe infections that can spread quickly and be life-threatening.
  • Damage to organs like the liver, pancreas, or jaw bone.
  • Very serious skin reactions, like severe rashes or blistering.
  • Rare brain changes that can cause headaches, confusion, seizures, or vision problems.
  • Low blood sugar.
  • Hemorrhoids, rectal pain, bleeding gums, difficulty swallowing.
  • Weight loss.
  • Dehydration.
  • Depression.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to sunitinib or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Sunitinib Viatris can raise blood pressure. Your doctor will check your blood pressure and may give you medicine to lower it if needed.
  • This medicine can increase your risk of bleeding or bruising, or change your blood cell counts. Tell your doctor if you bleed or bruise easily.
  • This medicine can cause heart problems. Tell your doctor if you feel very tired, short of breath, or have swollen feet and ankles.
  • This medicine can cause abnormal heart rhythms. Tell your doctor if you feel dizzy, faint, or have an unusual heartbeat.

  • Seek immediate medical help if you have symptoms of a blood clot, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, numbness on one side of your body, or sudden headaches.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had an aneurysm (a weakened, bulging blood vessel) or a torn blood vessel wall.
  • Tell your doctor if you have symptoms like fever, tiredness, bruising, bleeding, or confusion, which could be signs of small blood vessel damage (TMA).
  • This medicine can cause thyroid problems. Tell your doctor if you feel more tired than usual, get cold easily, or your voice deepens.
  • Tell your doctor if you have upper stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or fever, as these could be signs of pancreas or gallbladder problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have itching, yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, or pain in the upper right side of your stomach, as these could be signs of liver problems.
  • Your doctor will monitor your kidney function.
  • This medicine can affect wound healing. Your doctor will decide when you can stop and restart treatment around surgery.
  • Tell your doctor or dentist immediately if you have mouth, tooth, or jaw pain, swelling, sores, numbness, or loose teeth.
  • This medicine can cause serious skin issues, including painful sores, fast-spreading infections, or severe rashes. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice any skin problems like fever, pain, redness, swelling, pus, or bleeding.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have high blood pressure, headache, or vision loss, as these can be signs of seizures.
  • If you have diabetes, your blood sugar levels will be checked regularly. Tell your doctor if you experience symptoms of low blood sugar, like tiredness, heart palpitations, sweating, hunger, or fainting.
  • Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Use reliable birth control during treatment if you can become pregnant.
