How to Use

Dosage

For GIST or kidney cancer, the usual dose is 50 mg once daily for 28 days, followed by a 14-day break from the medicine. For pancreatic NET, the usual dose is 37.5 mg once daily without a break.

Method

You can take Sunitinib Stada with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose depends on your cancer type and treatment plan, as determined by your doctor. It is typically 50 mg for GIST/kidney cancer (with breaks) or 37.5 mg for pancreatic NET (continuous).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Changes in blood counts (low platelets, red or white blood cells)
  • Shortness of breath
  • High blood pressure
  • Feeling very tired or weak
  • Swelling (due to fluid buildup under the skin, around eyes)
  • Mouth pain, sores, dry mouth, changes in taste, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation
  • Loss of appetite
  • Low thyroid function
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Nosebleeds
  • Back pain, joint pain, arm/leg pain
  • Skin color changes, darkened skin, hair color changes, rash (especially on palms/soles), dry skin

  • Reduced blood flow to the heart muscle

  • Unusual skin sensations, itching, peeling skin, skin inflammation, blisters, acne, discolored nails, hair loss
  • Numbness or tingling in your arms and legs

RARE
  • Life-threatening soft tissue infection (e.g., around rectum and genitals)
  • Stroke
  • Heart attack
  • Changes in heart's electrical activity or abnormal heart rhythm
  • Fluid around the heart
  • Liver failure
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Hole in the bowel (perforation)
  • Gallbladder inflammation (swelling and redness), with or without gallstones
  • Abnormal connection (fistula) between body cavities or to the skin
  • Jawbone damage (osteonecrosis), signs include mouth/jaw pain, swelling, numbness, loose teeth
  • Overactive thyroid gland
  • Problems with wound healing after surgery
  • Increased levels of muscle enzymes in the blood
  • Severe allergic reaction (e.g., rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing)
  • Colon inflammation (colitis)
  • Severe skin reactions (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Tumor lysis syndrome (a group of problems that can happen when cancer cells break down quickly)
  • Muscle tissue breakdown, which can lead to kidney problems
  • Abnormal brain changes, potentially causing headache, confusion, seizures, or vision loss
  • Painful skin sores (pyoderma gangrenosum)
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Thyroid inflammation
  • Damage to small blood vessels (thrombotic microangiopathy, TMA)
  • Enlarged or weakened blood vessel, or a ruptured blood vessel (aneurysms)
  • Brain toxicity due to high ammonia levels (symptoms: confusion, sleepiness, coma)

Important Warnings

  • This medicine can increase your blood pressure. Your doctor will check it regularly.
  • You might bleed or bruise more easily. Tell your doctor if you notice any unusual bleeding.
  • This medicine can affect your heart. Tell your doctor if you feel very tired, short of breath, or have swollen feet or ankles, or any changes in your heartbeat.
  • Contact your doctor right away if you have symptoms of a blood clot (like chest pain, arm pain, sudden shortness of breath) or a weakened blood vessel (aneurysm).
  • This medicine can affect your thyroid gland. Your doctor will check its function regularly.

  • Tell your doctor if you have any signs of problems with your liver, kidneys, pancreas, or gallbladder, such as pain in your stomach area, yellow skin or eyes, or dark urine.
  • Contact your doctor or dentist if you have pain, swelling, sores in your mouth, numbness in your jaw, or loose teeth.
  • If you get severe skin rashes, painful skin sores, or any signs of infection around a skin wound, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have seizures, especially with high blood pressure, headache, or vision changes.
  • If you have diabetes, your blood sugar levels will be checked regularly to avoid low blood sugar. Tell your doctor if you feel tired, have fast heartbeat, sweat, or feel very hungry.
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
  • This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Use effective birth control if you can become pregnant.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness or tiredness. Be careful when driving or using machines.
  • This medicine can affect wound healing. Your doctor will decide if you need to stop taking it before or after surgery.
