How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your specific dose based on your weight and the procedure.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a vein (intravenously) or as a continuous infusion into a vein.

Important

The total dose should not be more than 500 mg per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Stomach cramps or pain, feeling sick or full
  • Visible muscle twitching under the skin
  • Muscle pain after surgery
  • Increased pressure inside the eye, which may cause headache or blurred vision
  • Skin redness
  • Rash
  • High potassium levels in the blood
  • Fast or slow heart rate
  • Protein in blood or urine due to muscle damage
  • Muscle damage that can cause muscle aches, tenderness, stiffness, and weakness. Your urine may also look dark, red, or brownish.
RARE
  • Sudden, severe allergic reaction (very rare) which may include shortness of breath, wheezing, swelling of eyelids, face, lips, or other body parts, rash, itching, hives, or fainting.
  • Unusual heart rhythm
  • Heart problems, including changes in heart rate or heart stopping
  • Difficulty breathing or temporary stopping of breathing
  • Difficulty opening the mouth
  • Fever
  • Excessive salivation
  • High or low blood pressure

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to suxamethonium or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have been told you have unusually low activity of a specific enzyme called cholinesterase.
  • Tell your doctor if you or your family has a history of unusually high body temperature (hyperthermia).
  • Tell your doctor if you have unusually high potassium levels in your blood.
  • Inform your doctor if you or your family have a muscle weakness disease (like myotonia) or muscle wasting (like Duchenne muscular dystrophy).

  • Let your doctor know if you have severe liver or kidney problems.
  • Inform your doctor if you have heart problems, including heart attacks, heart disease, or irregular heartbeat.
  • Tell your doctor if you recently had an eye injury or have glaucoma (high pressure in the eye).
  • Mention if you haven't been able to walk for a long time.
  • Tell your doctor if you've ever had an allergic reaction to a muscle relaxant during surgery.
