How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 2-4 mg per kilogram of body weight for adults and children aged 2-17 years.

Method

A doctor will give it to you as a single injection directly into a vein.

Important

For adults, a dose of up to 16 mg/kg may be used if faster recovery is needed.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough
  • Breathing problems, which may include coughing or moving as if you are waking up or taking a breath.
  • Light anesthesia, meaning you might start waking up from deep sleep and need more anesthesia. This could cause you to move or cough at the end of surgery.
  • Complications during your procedure, such as changes in heart rate, coughing, or movements.
  • Decreased blood pressure due to the surgical procedure.
RARE
  • Shortness of breath caused by muscle spasm in the airways (bronchospasm), which occurred in patients with a history of lung problems.
  • Allergic reactions (drug hypersensitivity), such as rash, red skin, swelling of your tongue and/or throat, shortness of breath, changes in blood pressure or heart rhythm, sometimes leading to a severe drop in blood pressure. Severe allergic or allergy-like reactions can be life-threatening.
  • Return of muscle relaxation after surgery.
  • Severe slowing of the heart rate and slowing of the heart leading to cardiac arrest may occur when Sugammadex hameln is given.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to sugammadex or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had kidney or liver disease.
  • Inform your doctor if you have fluid retention (swelling).
  • Tell your doctor if you have a condition that increases the risk of bleeding (blood clotting disorders) or if you are on blood-thinning medication.
  • Tell your doctor if you have recently taken toremifene (used for breast cancer) or fusidic acid (an antibiotic), as these can reduce the effect of Sugammadex hameln.
