How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 2-4 mg per kg of body weight for adults and children aged 2-17 years; a 16 mg/kg dose may be used for adults needing a faster reversal.

Method

It is given as a single injection into a vein by an anesthesiologist.

Important

Your anesthesiologist will determine the appropriate dose for your surgery; it is typically a single administration.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough
  • Breathing difficulties, such as coughing or movements as if waking up or gasping for breath
  • Light anesthesia, meaning you might start waking up during surgery and need more anesthetic, leading to movement or coughing.
  • Complications during the procedure, such as changes in heart rate, coughing, or movement.
  • Drop in blood pressure due to the surgery.
RARE
  • Shortness of breath due to muscle spasms in the airways (bronchospasm), seen in patients with a history of lung problems.
  • Allergic reactions (drug hypersensitivity), such as rash, red skin, swelling of the tongue and/or throat, shortness of breath, changes in blood pressure or heart rate, sometimes leading to severe low blood pressure. Severe allergic or allergy-like reactions can be life-threatening.
  • Return of muscle relaxation after surgery.
  • Severe slowing of the heart rate, which can lead to cardiac arrest, may occur when Sugammadex Glenmark is given.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to sugammadex or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, as this medicine is removed from your body through the kidneys.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had liver disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you have fluid retention (swelling).
  • Inform your doctor if you have conditions that increase bleeding risk or if you are taking blood thinners.

  • This medicine may make hormonal contraceptives (like birth control pills, rings, implants, or coils) less effective. Use additional non-hormonal contraception for 7 days after receiving this medicine.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.
