Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough
  • Breathing problems, such as coughing or moving as if you're trying to wake up or gasp for air
  • Light anesthesia – you might start to wake up from deep sleep and need more anesthetic. This could cause you to move or cough at the end of surgery.
  • Problems during the procedure, like changes in heart rate, coughing, or moving
  • Lower blood pressure due to the surgery
RARE
  • Shortness of breath because of muscle spasms in your airways (bronchospasm), especially if you have had lung problems before
  • Allergic reactions (like a rash, red skin, swelling of the tongue and/or throat, trouble breathing, changes in blood pressure or heart rate). Severe allergic reactions can be life-threatening.
  • Muscles becoming relaxed again after surgery
  • Very slow heart rate or heartbeat, which can even lead to the heart stopping, when Sugammadex Baxter is given
