How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 2-4 mg per kg of body weight for all ages. For adults needing a very fast recovery, a dose of 16 mg per kg can be used.

Method

Your anesthesiologist will give you Sugammadex Avansor as a single injection into your vein (intravenous line).

Important

Your anesthesiologist will determine your dose based on your weight and how much muscle relaxant is still in your system; typically, up to 16 mg per kg of body weight for adults in special situations.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough
  • Breathing difficulties (such as coughing or moving as if you are waking up or taking a breath)
  • Light anesthesia (feeling like you are waking up from deep sleep and needing more anesthetic, which may cause you to move or cough at the end of surgery)
  • Complications during treatment (such as changes in heart rate, coughing, or moving)
  • Drop in blood pressure due to surgery
RARE
  • Shortness of breath due to muscle spasms in the airways (bronchospasm), especially in patients with a history of lung problems
  • Allergic reactions (e.g., rash, skin redness, swelling of the tongue and/or throat, shortness of breath, changes in blood pressure or heart rate, sometimes severe or life-threatening)
  • Return of muscle weakness after surgery
  • Severe slowing of the heart or heart arrest (heart stops beating) during Sugammadex Avansor administration

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to sugammadex or any other ingredients of this medicine.
  • Tell your anesthesiologist if you have or have had kidney disease, as the medicine is removed from your body through your kidneys.
  • Inform your doctor if you have or have had liver disease.
  • Let your doctor know if you have fluid build-up in your body (swelling).
  • Tell your doctor if you have conditions that increase bleeding risk or if you are taking blood-thinning medicines.

  • Inform your doctor if you are taking toremifene (for breast cancer) or fusidic acid (an antibiotic), as these can reduce Sugammadex Avansor's effect.
  • This medicine can make hormonal birth control (like pills, rings, implants, or coils) less effective for 7 days. Use an extra non-hormonal birth control method during this time.
