How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose based on your weight and how much muscle relaxant is still affecting you. The usual dose is 2-4 mg per kg of body weight for adults and children aged 2-17. For faster recovery, adults may receive 16 mg per kg.

Method

A doctor will give you this medicine as a single shot into a vein during or after surgery.

Important

This medicine is given as a single injection during surgery; there is no typical maximum daily dose for continuous use.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough
  • Breathing problems, such as coughing or moving as if you are waking up or taking a breath.
  • Light anesthesia, meaning you might start to wake up during surgery and need more anesthetic, which could cause you to move or cough.
  • Complications during treatment, such as changes in heart rate, coughing, or moving.
  • Low blood pressure due to the surgery.
RARE
  • Shortness of breath due to muscle spasms in the airways (bronchospasm), especially in patients with a history of lung problems.
  • Allergic reactions (hypersensitivity to the medicine) such as rash, red skin, swelling of the tongue and/or throat, breathing difficulty, changes in blood pressure or heart rate, sometimes leading to severe low blood pressure. Severe allergic reactions can be life-threatening.
  • Muscle relaxation returning after surgery.
  • Very slow heart rate or even cardiac arrest can occur when Sugammadex Aguettant is given.

Important Warnings

  • Tell your doctor if you are allergic to Sugammadex Aguettant or any of its ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as this medicine is removed from your body through the kidneys.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have swelling or fluid retention in your body.
  • Tell your doctor if you have conditions that increase bleeding risk or if you take blood thinners.

  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, have recently taken, or might take, as they can affect or be affected by Sugammadex Aguettant.
  • It is very important to tell your doctor if you have recently taken toremifene (for breast cancer) or fusidic acid (an antibiotic), as these can make Sugammadex Aguettant less effective.
  • Sugammadex Aguettant can make hormonal birth control (like pills, rings, implants, or coils) less effective. Use other protection for 7 days if using non-pill forms.
  • This medicine might affect blood test results for progesterone. Tell your doctor if you need a progesterone test on the same day you get this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
