How to Use

Dosage

For the first two months, you will receive a 300 mg dose. After that, your doctor will decide if you get 100 mg or 300 mg once a month.

Method

Your doctor will give you the medicine as an injection under the skin in your stomach area.

Important

The maximum dose is 300 mg once a month. There must be at least 26 days between doses.

Possible Side Effects

  • Feeling weak
  • Redness, pain, itching, or a small lump where the injection was given

  • Dry mouth
  • Constipation
  • Feeling sleepy
  • Feeling dizzy
RARE
  • Swelling, bruising, infection, or skin irritation at the injection site
  • Tightness in your chest or trouble breathing (bronchospasms)
  • Swelling of your skin or inside your mouth/throat

Important Warnings

  • Get help right away if you have signs of a very bad allergic reaction, like trouble breathing, swelling in your face, or a rash all over your body.
  • Do not use if you have bad breathing problems or if your breathing becomes very slow or shallow. This can be deadly.
  • Tell your doctor if you have serious liver problems or signs that your liver is not working well (like yellow skin or eyes).
  • Do not drink alcohol or use other medicines that make you sleepy (like sleeping pills or calm-down medicines). They can cause very bad breathing issues and death.
  • This medicine is only given under the skin. Injecting it into a vein can cause severe harm or death. Do not try to change or use the medicine in any other way.

  • This medicine can make you sleepy or dizzy. Do not drive or use machines if you feel this way.
  • This medicine is not for children or teens under 18 years old.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, talk to your doctor. This medicine can cause withdrawal symptoms in newborns.
