How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your dose based on tests; typically, treatment starts with a low dose that is gradually increased.

Method

Take one dose by mouth on an empty stomach in the morning, at least half an hour before breakfast, with a small amount of liquid. For small children, crush the tablet and mix with water just before giving it.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose; never exceed the dose advised by your doctor.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to levothyroxine or other ingredients, have an untreated adrenal or pituitary gland problem, too much thyroid hormone, or an acute heart condition.
  • Do not use Striroxin with medicines that stop your thyroid from working if you are pregnant.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a heart condition, such as chest pain, heart failure, fast heartbeat, high blood pressure, or blood vessel disease. These must be treated before starting Striroxin.
  • Do not use this medicine for weight loss. Higher doses can be dangerous, even life-threatening, if taken without your doctor's special instructions.
  • Inform your doctor if you are taking biotin (Vitamin H), as it can affect thyroid test results.

  • If you experience rash, hives, or swelling of the face/throat (angioedema), contact a doctor immediately, as this may be an allergic reaction.
