How to Use

Dosage

Adults typically take 100-200 micrograms daily; children's dosage is based on body surface area, starting from 12.5-50 micrograms.

Method

Take your daily dose by mouth in the morning on an empty stomach (at least 30 minutes before breakfast) with a small amount of liquid, such as half a glass of water. For infants, crush the tablet just before use, mix with a little water, and give it at least 30 minutes before the first meal.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is typically 200 micrograms, but your doctor may prescribe up to 300 micrograms for certain conditions.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to levothyroxine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have an untreated adrenal gland problem, an untreated pituitary gland problem, an overactive thyroid, or an acute heart problem like a heart attack.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems like chest pain, heart failure, fast or irregular heartbeat, or high blood pressure before starting this medicine.
  • Do not use thyroid hormones for weight loss if your thyroid levels are normal, as it can cause serious side effects.
  • Tell your doctor or laboratory staff if you take biotin (Vitamin H/B7/B8), as it can affect your thyroid blood test results.

  • If you are pregnant and taking this medicine with drugs that stop the thyroid from making too much hormone, your doctor will tell you to stop Striroxin when you become pregnant.
