How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your exact dose. For most adults, a typical daily dose for long-term use is 100-200 micrograms.

Method

Take your daily dose once a day, in the morning on an empty stomach (at least 30 minutes before breakfast) with a small amount of liquid, such as half a glass of water. For infants, crush the tablet just before use and mix it with a small amount of water.

Important

The maximum daily dose for most adults for replacement therapy is usually 200 micrograms, but your doctor may prescribe a higher dose for specific conditions like cancer.

  • Irregular or fast heartbeat
  • Chest pain

  • Muscle weakness or cramps
  • Flushing (hot and red face)
  • Fever
  • Vomiting
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Increased pressure inside the skull (pseudotumor cerebri)
  • Tremor
  • Restlessness
  • Sleep problems
  • Sweating
  • Weight loss
  • Diarrhea
  • Allergic reactions (e.g., skin rash, hives, swelling of the face or throat)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to levothyroxine or any other ingredient in Striroxin.
  • Do not take if you have untreated problems with your adrenal or pituitary glands, an overactive thyroid, or acute heart disease (like a heart attack or heart inflammation).
  • If you are pregnant, do not take Striroxin with medicines that stop your thyroid from making hormones.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart problems like angina, heart failure, irregular heartbeat, or high blood pressure. These must be managed before you start Striroxin.
  • This medicine is not for losing weight. Taking more than prescribed can cause serious, even life-threatening, side effects.

  • Tell your doctor or lab staff if you take biotin (also known as Vitamin H or B7), as it can affect results of thyroid tests.
  • Inform your doctor if you eat soy products, especially if you change how much you eat, as they can reduce how well Striroxin is absorbed.
