How to Use

Dosage

One dose is 3 sprays.

Method

Spray towards the back of your throat. Do not breathe in while spraying.

Important

Do not use more than 5 doses (15 sprays total) in a 24-hour period.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness, headache
  • Throat irritation
  • Mouth sores, pain or numbness in the mouth
  • Sore throat
  • Uncomfortable feeling in the mouth (like warmth or tingling)
  • Nausea and diarrhea
  • Skin tingling and itching
RARE
  • Drowsiness
  • Blisters in mouth and throat, numb throat
  • Stomach bloating, stomach pain, gas, constipation, indigestion, vomiting
  • Dry mouth
  • Burning sensation in mouth, altered taste
  • Fever, pain
  • Feeling sleepy or difficulty sleeping
  • Worsened asthma, wheezing, shortness of breath
  • Reduced sensation in throat
  • Anemia (low red blood cells), thrombocytopenia (low platelet count, which can cause bruising and bleeding)
  • Swelling (edema), high blood pressure, heart failure, or heart attack
  • Hepatitis (liver inflammation)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to flurbiprofen, other NSAID painkillers, aspirin, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have had allergic reactions in the past, such as asthma, unexpected wheezing, itching, runny nose, rash, or swelling, after taking aspirin or other NSAID painkillers.
  • Do not use if you have or have had stomach or intestinal ulcers or bleeding (at least two episodes).
  • Do not use if you have had severe colitis (inflammation of the large intestine).
  • Do not use if you have previously had blood clotting or bleeding problems when taking NSAID painkillers.

  • Do not use if you are in your last three months of pregnancy.
  • Do not use if you have severe heart, kidney, or liver failure.
  • Do not use if you are under 18 years old.
  • Do not use this medicine for more than 3 days unless your doctor tells you to.
  • Contact your doctor or pharmacist if your condition does not improve, gets worse, or if you develop new symptoms.
  • Stop using this medicine and contact a doctor immediately if you develop skin reactions (rash, peeling skin, blisters) or other allergic reactions.
  • Stop using flurbiprofen if you experience irritation in your mouth.
  • Avoid alcohol while using Strefen, as it increases the risk of stomach and intestinal bleeding.
