How to Use

Dosage

The recommended daily dose is 10 mg; for elderly or debilitated patients, 5 mg is recommended.

Method

Take one dose orally just before going to bed.

Important

Do not exceed a daily dose of 10 mg.

  • Anger, abnormal behavior, withdrawal symptoms, tolerance to the medicine
  • Rash (hives) and swelling (angioedema), swelling of face, lips or tongue can lead to death.
  • Delirium (sudden and severe change in mental state, confusion)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to zolpidem or any other ingredient.
  • Do not use if you have sleep apnea (breathing pauses while sleeping).
  • Do not use if you have severe liver failure.
  • Do not use if you have myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness).
  • Do not use if you have acute and/or severe respiratory failure.

  • Treatment is short-term; long-term use can lead to dependence.
  • Do not use if you have previously experienced sleepwalking or unusual behavior (e.g., driving, eating) after taking the medicine when you were not fully awake.
  • Not for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a history of mental health disorders or have misused alcohol, drugs, or medicines.
  • Ensure you can sleep uninterrupted for 8 hours after taking the medicine; otherwise, memory problems and confusion may occur.
  • This medicine can cause drowsiness and impair your ability to drive or use machines. Do not drive or operate machinery for at least 8 hours.
  • Do not use alcohol or other depressant substances while on Stilnoct, as it may increase side effects.
  • Contact a doctor immediately if you have suicidal thoughts.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy; ask your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.
  • Do not use during breastfeeding, as small amounts of the medicine pass into breast milk.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Sedative. For short-term use only. The short-acting nature of the medicinal product increases the risk of adverse effects. Increases the risk of drug addiction, cognitive disorder and traffic accidents. Increases risk of falls. Paradoxically, may increase anxiety, restlessness and aggression. (updated 12.2.2024)
