Stapressial is a medication containing three active substances, used to treat high blood pressure, stable coronary artery disease (chest pain), and/or high cholesterol in adults.

How to Use

Dosage

One tablet once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, preferably in the morning before breakfast.

Important

Do not exceed the prescribed daily dose of one tablet.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Swelling due to fluid retention
  • Nasal inflammation, sore throat, nosebleed
  • Allergic reactions (e.g., rashes, itching)
  • Increased blood sugar levels (if diabetic, monitor closely), increased creatine kinase in blood
  • Headache, dizziness, spinning sensation, tingling skin, tiredness
  • Blurred vision, double vision
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Cough, shortness of breath
  • Digestive issues: nausea, vomiting, constipation, gas, indigestion, altered bowel habits, diarrhea, stomach pain, taste disturbances
  • Joint pain, muscle pain, muscle spasms, back pain
  • Fatigue, weakness
  • Swollen ankles, palpitations (awareness of heartbeat), facial and neck flushing
  • Abnormal liver function test results
  • Loss of appetite, weight gain or loss
  • Nightmares, insomnia, sleep disturbances, mood changes, anxiety, depression
  • Numbness or tingling in fingers, toes or limbs, decreased sensitivity to pain or touch, memory loss
  • Sneezing/runny nose due to nasal inflammation
  • Belching, dry mouth
  • Severe itching or rash, red skin patches, skin discoloration, blisters, hives, sensitivity to sunlight, hair loss
  • Kidney problems, urinary problems, increased need to urinate at night, frequent urination
  • Erectile dysfunction, impotence, breast discomfort or enlargement in men
  • Neck pain, muscle fatigue
  • Feeling unwell, tremors, fainting, falls, chest pain, malaise, fever, increased sweating, pain
  • Fast heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • Purple skin lesions (sign of vasculitis)
  • Increased eosinophils (a type of white blood cell)
  • White blood cells in urine
  • Altered lab values: high blood potassium (reverses when stopping medication), low sodium, low blood sugar in diabetics, increased urea and creatinine in blood
RARE
  • Acute kidney failure
  • Dark urine, nausea or vomiting, muscle cramps, confusion, and seizures (can be signs of SIADH)
  • Decreased or no urine production
  • Worsening of psoriasis
  • Confusion
  • Unexpected bleeding or bruising
  • Bile duct blockage (yellowing of skin and eyes)
  • Tendon injury
  • Altered lab values: increased liver enzymes, high serum bilirubin
  • Nerve disorder causing weakness, tingling, and numbness
  • Skin rash or mouth sores (lichenoid drug reaction)
  • Eosinophilic pneumonia (a rare lung inflammation)
  • Hearing loss
  • Increased muscle tension
  • Swollen gums
  • Abdominal bloating (gastritis)
  • Liver problems, yellow skin (jaundice), high liver enzymes affecting medical tests
  • Blood count changes (decreased white/red blood cells, low hemoglobin, low platelets, leading to bruising or bleeding), blood cell breakdown
  • Persistent muscle weakness
  • Tremors, rigid posture, masked face, slow movements and shuffling, unsteady walk (Parkinsonism-like symptoms)
  • Discoloration, numbness, and pain in fingers or toes (Raynaud's phenomenon)
  • Myasthenia gravis (a disease causing general muscle weakness, sometimes affecting breathing muscles)
  • Ocular myasthenia (a disease causing eye muscle weakness)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Stapressial if you are allergic to atorvastatin, other statins, perindopril, other ACE inhibitors, amlodipine, other calcium channel blockers, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take Stapressial if you have liver disease or unexplained abnormal liver blood test results.
  • Do not take Stapressial if you have very low blood pressure, cardiogenic shock (heart can't pump enough blood), severe blockage in the heart's main artery, or heart failure after a heart attack.
  • Do not take Stapressial if you have had severe allergic reactions (angioedema) with swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing, especially if it was related to ACE inhibitor treatment, or if a family member has had such reactions.
  • Do not take Stapressial if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking aliskiren.

  • Do not take Stapressial if you are on dialysis or have severe kidney disease with narrowed kidney arteries.
  • Do not take Stapressial if you are taking or have recently taken a combination medicine containing sacubitril and valsartan (for heart failure) or glecaprevir and pibrentasvir (for hepatitis C).
  • Do not take Stapressial if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • If you need to take fusidic acid for bacterial infection, you must temporarily stop Stapressial. Your doctor will tell you when it's safe to restart, as combining them can cause severe muscle problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have persistent or unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, or if there is a family history of muscle problems.
  • Avoid drinking too much alcohol and do not consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
  • Stapressial can cause dizziness, headaches, tiredness, or nausea, which may affect your ability to drive or use machines, especially at the start of treatment.
