How to Use

Dosage

A single 0.5 ml dose is given to adults and children aged 6 months and older.

Method

Administered as an injection by a healthcare professional, usually under the skin (subcutaneous) or into a muscle. Do not inject into a blood vessel.

Important

A single dose is given. Booster doses may be needed in specific situations.

  • High fever with headache and confusion (brain/nervous system reaction)
  • Extreme tiredness (brain/nervous system reaction)
  • Stiff neck (brain/nervous system reaction)
  • Inflammation of brain and nerve tissues (brain/nervous system reaction)
  • Convulsions (brain/nervous system reaction)
  • Loss of movement or sensation in parts of the body or entire body (e.g., Guillain-Barré syndrome) (brain/nervous system reaction)
  • Change in personality (brain/nervous system reaction)
  • Severe vital organ reactions resembling yellow fever, including fatigue, fever, headache, muscle pain, low blood pressure, severe muscle or liver problems, low blood cell counts (leading to bruising/bleeding), increased infection risk, and loss of kidney/lung function.

  • Numbness or tingling sensation
  • Flu-like illness

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to the active substance, any other ingredient, or to eggs or chicken proteins.
  • Do not use if you have had a severe allergic reaction to a previous yellow fever vaccine dose.
  • Do not use if your child is under 6 months old.
  • Do not use if your immune system is weakened due to illness or certain treatments (e.g., high-dose steroids, immune-suppressing medicines, or chemotherapy).
  • Do not use if your immune system is weakened due to HIV infection, especially if you have active symptoms.

  • Do not use if you or your child have had thymus gland problems or if your thymus gland has been removed.
  • Postpone vaccination if you or your child have a fever or an acute illness until you are well.
  • If you are over 60 or your child is under 9 months, there's a higher risk of rare but severe reactions affecting the brain, nerves, and vital organs. Discuss this risk with your healthcare professional.
  • If you or your child have a bleeding disorder or are on blood thinners, the vaccine can still be given, but it must be injected under the skin, not into a muscle.
  • If you are allergic to latex, inform your healthcare professional, as the syringe contains latex rubber.
  • If pregnant or breastfeeding, avoid this vaccine unless absolutely necessary.
