How to Use

Dosage

Inhale the powder from one capsule (18 micrograms of tiotropium) once a day.

Method

Use the HandiHaler device to inhale the powder. Do not swallow the capsule. Take the medicine at roughly the same time each day.

Important

Do not exceed one capsule per day.

Important Warnings

  • This medicine is for long-term use, not for sudden breathing problems or wheezing attacks.
  • Tell your doctor if you have narrow-angle glaucoma, prostate problems, or difficulty urinating.
  • If you experience a rash, swelling, itching, wheezing, or sudden shortness of breath, contact your doctor right away.
  • If you feel chest tightness, cough, wheeze, or have trouble breathing right after inhaling, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Be careful not to get the powder in your eyes. If it does, rinse your eyes with warm water immediately and contact your doctor or an eye specialist, as it could be a sign of glaucoma.

  • Dry mouth is a common side effect and can lead to tooth decay over time, so maintain good oral hygiene.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had a heart attack in the last 6 months, or if you have had an unstable or life-threatening irregular heartbeat or severe heart failure in the last year.
  • Spiriva 18 micrograms is not for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, do not use this medicine unless your doctor specifically recommends it.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness, blurred vision, or headache, which can affect your ability to drive or use machines.
