This medicine, a beta-blocker, helps lower blood pressure, slow a fast heart rate, treat irregular heart rhythms, and improve heart function for people with heart failure.
The usual dose for high blood pressure is 47.5-95 mg once daily. For chest pain, irregular heartbeat, or to prevent migraines, it's 95-190 mg once daily. After a heart attack, the dose is 190 mg once daily.
Take the prolonged-release tablet once daily with or without food. Do not chew or crush the tablet; swallow it whole with at least half a glass of liquid.
The maximum daily dose is 190 mg once daily.
Suitable for older adults. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions especially with with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
