How to Use

Dosage

Typically one injection every 28 days. Your doctor will decide the correct dose (60 mg, 90 mg, or 120 mg) and injection interval (every 28, 42, or 56 days).

Method

The medicine is given as a deep injection under the skin.

Important

Do not exceed the injection frequency prescribed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea
  • Loose stools
  • Abdominal pain
  • Gallstones and other gallbladder problems, which may include severe stomach pain, fever, yellow skin or eyes, chills, or itchy skin.
  • Weight loss
  • Lack of energy
  • Slow heart rate
  • Feeling very tired or exhausted
  • Decreased appetite
  • General weakness
  • Fatty stools
  • Dizziness, headache
  • Hair loss or reduced body hair growth
  • Pain in muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones
  • Injection site reactions like pain, hardened skin, or itching
  • Abnormal liver and pancreas test results, and changes in blood sugar levels
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation
  • Bloating, gas, abdominal discomfort or indigestion
  • Enlarged bile ducts (between liver, gallbladder, and small intestine), with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, yellow skin or eyes, and fever.
RARE
  • Hot flashes
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Changes in stool color
  • Changes in blood test values (sodium and alkaline phosphatase levels)
  • Sudden, severe lower abdominal pain (may be a sign of pancreatitis)
  • Redness, pain, warmth, swelling, and possibly a fluid-filled lump at the injection site, with fever (may be a sign of an abscess)
  • Sudden, intense pain in the upper right or middle abdomen spreading to shoulders or back, abdominal tenderness, nausea, vomiting, high fever (may be a sign of gallbladder inflammation)
  • Pain in the upper right abdomen, fever, chills, yellowing of skin and eyes, nausea, vomiting, clay-colored stools, dark urine, fatigue (may be a sign of bile duct inflammation)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to lanreotide, similar medicines (somatostatin analogues), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, as this medicine can affect your blood sugar levels. Your doctor may need to check your blood sugar and adjust your diabetes medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have gallstones, as this medicine can cause new gallstones or worsen existing ones. Regular check-ups may be needed.
  • Tell your doctor if you have thyroid problems, as this medicine can slightly reduce your thyroid function.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, especially a slow heart rate (bradycardia), as this medicine can slow your heart rate further.

  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of a severe allergic reaction (e.g., facial redness or swelling, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, or feeling faint).
  • Be aware of symptoms of high or low blood sugar, such as increased thirst/tiredness, dry mouth (high sugar) or hunger, shaking, sweating, confusion (low sugar).
