How to Use

Dosage

One injection every 28 days; your doctor will decide the dose (60, 90, or 120 mg).

Method

Given as a deep injection under the skin. A healthcare professional, trained person, or you yourself can give it after proper training.

One injection (when administered). This medicine is given every 28 days, not daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea, loose stools, stomach pain.
  • Gallstones or other gallbladder problems. Symptoms include sudden severe stomach pain, high fever, yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), chills, loss of appetite, itching.
  • Weight loss.
  • Lack of energy.
  • Slow heartbeat.
  • Feeling very tired.
  • Reduced appetite.
  • General feeling of weakness.
  • Fatty stools.
  • Dizziness, headache.
  • Hair loss or less hair growth.
  • Pain in muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones.
  • Reactions at the injection site, such as pain, hardened skin, or itching.
  • Abnormal liver and pancreas test results, changes in blood sugar levels.
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation.
  • Gas, bloated stomach or general discomfort, indigestion.
  • Widening of bile ducts (biliary dilatation). Symptoms include stomach pain, nausea, yellow skin or eyes, and fever.
RARE
  • Hot flushes.
  • Difficulty sleeping.
  • Changes in stool color.
  • Changes in blood levels of sodium and alkaline phosphatase shown in blood tests.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to lanreotide, somatostatin, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, as this medicine can affect your blood sugar levels. Your doctor may adjust your diabetes medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have gallstones, as this medicine can cause them to form or worsen. You might need regular checks.
  • Tell your doctor if you have thyroid problems, as this medicine can slightly reduce your thyroid function.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, especially a slow heartbeat, as this medicine can make it worse.

  • Tell your doctor if you have fatty or loose stools, bloating, or lose weight during treatment, as it might affect how your body digests food.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience facial redness or swelling, rash, chest tightness, shortness of breath, wheezing, or faintness. These could be signs of a severe allergic reaction.
