How to Use

Dosage

A tiny drop of the allergen extract is placed on your skin.

Method

A healthcare professional will place a tiny drop of the allergen extract on your skin, usually on your forearm or back. Then, they will gently prick the skin through the drop with a small needle (lancet).

Important

This is a diagnostic test performed once per session by a healthcare professional.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • The bump (wheal) at the test site may continue to get larger for 10-20 minutes after the allergen is applied.
  • Swelling and redness in the test area may appear 6-24 hours after the skin prick test.
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock), with symptoms like redness, intense itching (especially in palms and soles), hives, or breathing problems.
  • Feeling of warmth, general discomfort, restlessness, or anxiety.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are taking beta-blocker medications at the same time.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have acute or chronic atopic eczema (skin rash) in the area where the test will be performed.
  • Very rarely, severe allergic reactions like anaphylactic shock can happen. Your healthcare provider will be prepared to treat this.
