How to Use

Dosage

A small drop of allergen extract is applied to your skin by a healthcare professional.

Method

The skin is then gently pricked with a lancet to allow the extract to enter the skin. The test is usually done on your forearm or back.

This is a single diagnostic test performed by a healthcare professional, not a daily medication. There is no maximum daily dose for you to take.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • The bump at the test site might get bigger for 10-20 minutes.
  • Swelling and redness around the test site may appear 6-24 hours later.
RARE
  • Anaphylactic shock or a very severe allergic reaction.
  • Skin redness.
  • Strong itching in your hands, feet, or other body parts (like hives).
  • Trouble breathing.
  • Feeling warm.
  • General discomfort.
  • Feeling restless or anxious.

Important Warnings

  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you are taking beta-blocker medicines or if you have a skin rash (eczema) in the area where the test will be done.
  • Very rarely, severe allergic reactions, like anaphylactic shock, can happen. Healthcare staff are trained to handle this.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before the test.
  • Some allergy medicines can change the test results. Be sure to tell your doctor or nurse about all medicines you are taking, including over-the-counter ones.
