Solu-Cortef helps reduce inflammation and allergy symptoms by weakening the body's immune response.
The usual dose is 100 mg of hydrocortisone. For severe shock, doses of 250 mg to 1000 mg may be given slowly into a vein.
This medicine is given as an injection or infusion into a vein, or as an injection into a muscle, by a doctor or nurse.
High-dose corticosteroid treatment should generally not continue for more than 48–72 hours.
