How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 5 mg once a day. Your doctor might increase it to 10 mg once a day if needed.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with liquid, such as a glass of water. You can take it with or without food. Do not crush the tablets.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 10 mg.

  • Dry mouth

  • Indigestion (symptoms include feeling full, stomach pain, burping, heartburn, stomach discomfort)

  • Urinary tract infection, bladder inflammation
  • Drowsiness
  • Changes in taste
  • Dry (irritated) eyes
  • Dry nasal passages
  • Heartburn, dry throat
  • Dry skin
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Tiredness
  • Swelling in legs (edema)
  • Dizziness, headache
  • Hardened stool blockage in the bowel (fecal impaction), vomiting
  • Itching, rash
  • Urine remaining in the bladder due to difficulty emptying (urinary retention)
  • Hallucinations, confusion
  • Allergic skin rash
  • Decreased appetite
  • High potassium levels in blood, which can cause abnormal heart rhythm
  • Sudden severe confusion (delirium)
  • Increased eye pressure
  • Irregular heartbeat (Torsades de pointes), changes in heart's electrical activity (ECG), feeling your heart beat, faster heart rate
  • Voice problems
  • Bowel blockage, stomach discomfort
  • Liver problems
  • Muscle weakness
  • Kidney problems

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to solifenacin succinate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have difficulty urinating or emptying your bladder completely (urinary retention).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a severe stomach or bowel disease (including toxic megacolon, a complication of ulcerative colitis).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have myasthenia gravis, a muscle disease causing severe muscle weakness.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have uncontrolled high pressure in your eye (glaucoma) with progressive vision loss.

  • Do not take this medicine if you are undergoing dialysis for kidney disease.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver disease.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney disease or moderate liver disease AND are taking medicines that slow down the removal of Solifenacin Orion from your body (e.g., ketoconazole).
  • Solifenacin Orion should not be used in children or adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor right away if you experience severe allergic reactions, including skin reactions like blistering or peeling, and sudden severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis).
  • Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor right away if you experience swelling under the skin (angioedema), which may cause difficulty breathing.
  • This medicine can cause blurred vision, dizziness, drowsiness, or tiredness. If you experience these effects, do not drive or operate machinery.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Anticholinergic. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include tachycardia, confusion and cognitive impairment.. Consider the risk of QT prolongation especially when combined with other QT-prolonging drugs. Increases risk of falls. Reduces the effectiveness of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. (updated 25.11.2024)
