How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is 5 mg once a day, unless your doctor tells you to take 10 mg.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with liquid. You can take it with or without food. Do not crush the tablet.

Important

If you have severe kidney problems or moderate liver problems, do not take more than 5 mg per day. Do not take more than one dose per day.

  • Fatigue, fluid retention in the lower legs (edema)

  • Severe constipation due to hard stool buildup in the rectum
  • Large bowel obstruction
  • Urine retention in the bladder due to difficulty emptying it

  • Angioedema (swelling under the skin, often with breathing difficulties)
  • Hallucinations, confusion
  • Hives (urticaria)
  • Measles-like rash

  • Allergic reaction or severe skin reaction (e.g., blistering and peeling of the skin)
  • Decreased appetite
  • High potassium levels in blood, which can cause abnormal heart rhythm
  • Increased eye pressure
  • Changes in heart's electrical activity (ECG), irregular pulse
  • Complete bowel obstruction (ileus)
  • Severe confusion, with altered activity, sleep problems, and seeing or hearing things that are not real (hallucinations)
  • Speech disorder (voice problems)
  • Liver problems or changes in liver function seen in blood tests
  • Muscle weakness
  • Kidney problems
  • Stomach discomfort
  • Red and peeling skin (exfoliative dermatitis)
  • Feeling your heartbeat, faster heart rate (palpitations, rapid pulse)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to solifenacin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe trouble emptying your bladder completely (urinary retention).
  • Do not take if you have a severe stomach or bowel condition (including a serious complication of ulcerative colitis called toxic megacolon).
  • Do not take if you have myasthenia gravis, a muscle disease causing extreme weakness.
  • Do not take if you have or are at risk of high eye pressure with progressive vision loss (glaucoma).

  • Do not take if you are on dialysis.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease.
  • Do not take if you have severe kidney disease or moderate liver disease AND are taking medicines that slow down how your body removes solifenacin.
  • Do not use this medicine during pregnancy unless your doctor says it is absolutely necessary.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are breastfeeding, as solifenacin may pass into breast milk.
  • This medicine may cause blurred vision, drowsiness, or fatigue. If you experience these effects, do not drive or use machines.
  • This medicine should not be used by children or adolescents under 18 years of age.
