How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 5 mg once a day, unless your doctor tells you to take 10 mg once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with liquid. You can take them with or without food. Do not crush the tablets.

Important

Do not take more than 10 mg per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dry mouth
  • Blurred vision
  • Constipation, feeling sick (nausea), indigestion with symptoms like stomach fullness, stomach pain, burping, heartburn, or general stomach discomfort
RARE
  • Urinary tract infection, bladder inflammation
  • Drowsiness
  • Changes in taste
  • Dry, irritated eyes
  • Dry nose
  • Heartburn, dry throat
  • Dry skin
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Tiredness, swelling in legs (edema)
  • Severe constipation (impacted stool)
  • Inability to empty the bladder completely (urinary retention)
  • Dizziness, headache
  • Vomiting
  • Itching, skin rash
  • Seeing or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations), confusion
  • Allergic skin rash
  • Loss of appetite
  • High potassium in blood (can cause abnormal heart rhythm)
  • Increased eye pressure
  • Changes in heart's electrical activity (ECG), irregular heartbeat, feeling your heart beat, fast heartbeat
  • Voice problems
  • Liver problems
  • Muscle weakness
  • Kidney problems

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to solifenacin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have trouble urinating or cannot fully empty your bladder.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a severe stomach or bowel disease, including toxic megacolon or severe ulcerative colitis.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a muscle disease called myasthenia gravis, which causes extreme muscle weakness.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have high eye pressure (glaucoma) that is worsening your vision.

  • Do not take this medicine if you are on dialysis or have severe liver disease.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney disease or moderate liver disease AND are taking medicines that slow down how your body breaks down Solifenacin Krka (like ketoconazole).
  • If this medicine makes your vision blurry, or makes you feel sleepy or tired, do not drive or use machines.
  • Stop taking Solifenacin Krka and get medical help right away if you notice a severe allergic reaction like skin blistering or peeling, swelling under the skin, or trouble breathing.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Anticholinergic. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include tachycardia, confusion and cognitive impairment.. Consider the risk of QT prolongation especially when combined with other QT-prolonging drugs. Increases risk of falls. Reduces the effectiveness of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. (updated 25.11.2024)
