How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 5 mg once a day, but your doctor might tell you to take 10 mg once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food. Do not crush the tablet.

Important

Do not take more than one dose per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dry mouth
  • Blurred vision
  • Constipation
  • Nausea
  • Stomach upset (indigestion, feeling full, stomach pain, burping, heartburn)
RARE
  • Urinary tract infections (bladder infections)
  • Feeling sleepy or very tired
  • Changes in how things taste
  • Dryness in eyes, nose, throat, or skin
  • Trouble passing urine (difficulty urinating)
  • Swelling in your arms or legs
  • Severe blockage in your large intestine (fecal impaction), or trouble emptying your bladder completely (urinary retention)
  • Dizziness, headache
  • Vomiting
  • Itchy skin, skin rash (including allergic rash)
  • Seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations), feeling confused
  • Problems with your heart rhythm (e.g., fast or irregular heartbeat, palpitations)
  • Less hunger, high potassium levels in your blood
  • Increased pressure in your eyes
  • Voice problems
  • Liver problems, kidney problems
  • Muscle weakness

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to solifenacin succinate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe trouble emptying your bladder or a blocked stomach/bowel.
  • Do not take if you have a muscle disease called myasthenia gravis or high eye pressure (glaucoma) that causes vision loss.
  • This medicine is not for children or teenagers under 18 years old.
  • This medicine can make you dizzy, sleepy, or cause blurry vision. Do not drive or operate machines if you experience these effects.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Anticholinergic. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include tachycardia, confusion and cognitive impairment.. Consider the risk of QT prolongation especially when combined with other QT-prolonging drugs. Increases risk of falls. Reduces the effectiveness of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. (updated 25.11.2024)
