How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 5 mg once a day, unless your doctor tells you to take 10 mg.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. You can take it with or without food. Do not crush the tablet.

Important

Do not take more than 10 mg in a single day.

  • Inability to empty the bladder (urinary retention)
  • Dizziness, headache
  • Vomiting
  • Itching, rash
  • Hallucinations, confusion
  • Allergic rash
  • Decreased appetite
  • High blood potassium levels that may cause abnormal heart rhythm
  • Increased eye pressure
  • Changes in heart's electrical activity (ECG), irregular heartbeat, rapid heartbeat, palpitations
  • Voice disorders
  • Liver problems
  • Muscle weakness
  • Kidney problems

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to solifenacin succinate or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe difficulty emptying your bladder.
  • Do not take if you have severe stomach or bowel problems, especially a condition called toxic megacolon.
  • Do not take if you have myasthenia gravis, a muscle disease causing severe muscle weakness.
  • Do not take if you have glaucoma (increased pressure in your eyes with gradual vision loss).

  • Do not take if you are on dialysis, have severe liver disease, or have severe kidney disease or moderate liver disease and are taking certain medicines.
  • This medicine is not for children or adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • This medicine can cause blurred vision, drowsiness, or tiredness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience these effects.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Anticholinergic. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include tachycardia, confusion and cognitive impairment.. Consider the risk of QT prolongation especially when combined with other QT-prolonging drugs. Increases risk of falls. Reduces the effectiveness of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. (updated 25.11.2024)
