How to Use
Dosage
For adults and children over 8 years, the typical dose is 2 sachets (2 x 6g) 1 to 2 times a day. For younger children (4-7 years: 1 sachet 1-2 times daily; 2-3 years: 1 sachet once daily), please follow specific instructions.
Method
Mix one sachet (6g) of powder with 2 dl (one glass) of liquid like water, juice, tea, or coffee. For children under 8, the sachet can be mixed with 1 dl (half a glass) of water or juice. Prepare just before taking.
Important
Do not exceed 4 sachets (24g) per day for adults and children over 8 years, unless directed by a doctor.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Abdominal pain
- •Bloating

- •Flatulence (gas)
- •Diarrhea (can cause soreness around the anus in children)
RARE
- •Vomiting
- •Urgent need to have a bowel movement
- •Inability to control bowel movements (fecal incontinence)
- •Allergic reactions (like rash, itching, hives, redness, swelling of face/mouth/throat, fever, sudden drop in blood pressure)
- •Changes in body's salt and water balance (especially in older people), dehydration
Important Warnings
- Do not take if you are allergic to macrogol.
- Do not take if you have a blocked bowel, a hole in your bowel, or severe inflammatory bowel disease (like Crohn's or ulcerative colitis).
- Consult your doctor if your constipation appeared or worsened quickly, or if it comes with severe stomach pain, fever, or other serious abdominal issues.
- If you experience sudden stomach pain or rectal bleeding after taking this medicine, stop use and contact a doctor immediately.
- This medicine might affect how other medicines are absorbed. If you use liquid thickeners, Smoothlax may reduce their effect.
