How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your exact dose based on your weight and body's needs, usually between 13-31 ml per kg per day.

Method

This medicine is given as a drip into a vein, usually a central vein, by a healthcare professional.

Important

The maximum amount you can get is 31 ml per kilogram of your body weight per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Slight increase in body temperature.
RARE
  • Increased liver enzyme levels in the blood.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Nausea.
  • Vomiting.
  • Chills.
  • Dizziness.
  • Headache.
  • Low or high blood pressure.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Rapid heartbeat.
  • Allergic reactions (e.g., swelling, fever, low blood pressure, rash, red raised spots, redness, headache).
  • Feeling cold or hot.
  • Pale skin.
  • Blue lips and skin (due to low oxygen in blood).
  • Pain in the neck, back, bones, chest, and lower back.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, including fish, eggs, peanuts, or soy.
  • Do not use if you have very high fat levels in your blood, severe liver or kidney problems (without dialysis), blood clotting disorders, uncontrolled high blood sugar, too much fluid in your body or lungs, or untreated heart failure.
  • This medicine is not for newborn babies or children under 2 years old.
  • Tell your nurse or doctor right away if you get a fever, rash, swelling, trouble breathing, chills, sweating, nausea, or vomiting during the infusion, as these could be signs of an allergic reaction or too much medicine.
  • Do not give this medicine with blood products in the same IV line to avoid clumping.
