How to Use

Dosage

One tablet twice daily.

  • Dizziness
  • Itching
  • Decreased number of platelets in the blood
  • Kidney problems, sometimes requiring dialysis
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Back pain
  • Interstitial lung disease (a serious lung condition)
  • Bullous pemphigoid (skin blisters)
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas with severe stomach pain)
  • Lactic acidosis (a very serious condition with too much acid in the blood)
  • Severe allergic reactions including rash, hives, skin peeling, and swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
  • Dry mouth
  • Hepatitis (liver inflammation)
  • Hives or skin redness/rash

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to sitagliptin, metformin, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • If you have severe kidney disease.
  • If you have uncontrolled diabetes with very high blood sugar, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rapid weight loss, lactic acidosis (a serious condition with too much acid in the blood), or ketoacidosis (a build-up of ketones in the blood).
  • If you have a severe infection or are dehydrated.
  • If you are having a medical imaging scan where a special dye is injected into your vein. You may need to stop taking this medicine before and after the procedure.

  • If you have recently had a heart attack or have severe circulation problems, such as shock or difficulty breathing.
  • If you have liver disease.
  • If you drink a lot of alcohol.
  • If you are breastfeeding.
  • Stop taking this medicine and contact a doctor immediately if you experience severe and persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without nausea and vomiting.
  • Stop taking this medicine and go to the nearest hospital immediately if you have symptoms of lactic acidosis, such as vomiting, stomach pain, muscle cramps, extreme tiredness, difficulty breathing, decreased body temperature, or a slow heartbeat.
  • If you develop skin blisters or peeling skin, tell your doctor right away.
