How to Use

Dosage

One tablet twice a day. Your doctor may adjust your dose.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth with meals to reduce stomach upset.

Important

Do not take a double dose. Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose.

  • Hives or skin rash
  • Low platelet count (may cause easy bruising or bleeding)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to sitagliptin, metformin, or any other ingredient.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have severe kidney or liver disease, a severe infection, a recent heart attack, or if you consume a lot of alcohol.
  • If you have uncontrolled diabetes with very high blood sugar, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fast weight loss, or ketoacidosis, do not take this medicine. Talk to your doctor.
  • Tell your doctor if you are dehydrated (e.g., from severe vomiting, diarrhea, or fever) or if you are having an imaging scan that uses a contrast dye. You may need to stop taking this medicine temporarily.
  • Stop taking this medicine right away and contact your doctor if you develop severe and persistent stomach pain with nausea and vomiting, as these can be signs of pancreatitis.

  • Stop taking this medicine and go to the nearest hospital immediately if you experience symptoms of lactic acidosis, such as vomiting, stomach pain, muscle cramps, severe tiredness, trouble breathing, low body temperature, or a slow heartbeat.
  • If you get a severe allergic reaction (rash, hives, skin blisters/peeling, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, trouble breathing or swallowing), stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately.
