How to Use

Dosage

One tablet twice daily.

Method

Take by mouth with meals to help prevent stomach upset.

Important

Your doctor will determine your dose; typically, no more than one 50 mg/1000 mg tablet twice daily.

  • Interstitial lung disease (a type of lung disease)
  • Bullous pemphigoid (blisters on the skin)
  • Hepatitis (liver inflammation)
  • Hives
  • Skin redness (rash)
  • Dry mouth

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to sitagliptin, metformin, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe kidney problems.
  • Do not take if your diabetes is uncontrolled, with very high blood sugar, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rapid weight loss, lactic acidosis, or ketoacidosis.
  • Do not take if you have a severe infection or are dehydrated.
  • Stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical help if you experience symptoms of lactic acidosis, such as vomiting, stomach pain, muscle cramps, feeling generally unwell and very tired, difficulty breathing, decreased body temperature, and slow heart rate.

  • Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe and persistent stomach pain (abdominal area) that may radiate to your back, with or without nausea and vomiting, as these can be symptoms of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
  • Your doctor may ask you to stop this medicine if you notice blisters on your skin.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking this medicine, as it can increase the risk of lactic acidosis.
