How to Use

Dosage

Take one tablet two times a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a meal to reduce the risk of stomach upset.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose based on your condition and kidney function.

  • hepatitis (liver inflammation)

  • skin redness / rash

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to sitagliptin, metformin, or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney failure.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have uncontrolled diabetes with high blood sugar, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rapid weight loss, lactic acidosis, or ketoacidosis.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a severe infection or are dehydrated.
  • You must stop taking this medicine before and for two or more days after an X-ray where a contrast agent is injected, as directed by your doctor.

  • Do not take this medicine if you recently had a heart attack or have severe circulatory or breathing problems, such as shock.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have liver disease.
  • Do not take this medicine if you drink a lot of alcohol (either daily or occasionally).
  • Do not take this medicine if you are breastfeeding.
  • STOP taking this medicine and contact a doctor immediately if you have severe and constant stomach pain (in the abdomen) that may spread to your back, with or without nausea and vomiting. These can be signs of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
  • If you notice blisters on your skin, tell your doctor. Your doctor may ask you to stop taking this medicine.
  • STOP taking this medicine and contact a doctor or nearest hospital immediately if you have symptoms of lactic acidosis, such as vomiting, stomach pain, muscle cramps, a general feeling of not being well and severe tiredness, difficulty breathing, decreased body temperature, and slow pulse. Lactic acidosis can lead to coma.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Do not use in severe renal impairment or tissue hypoxia. May reduce the absorption of vitamin B12. Consider risk of lactic acidosis. The drug should be paused during fever, gastroenteritis or dehydration, and before surgery or imaging with a contrast agent. (updated 20.5.2024)
