How to Use

Dosage

The usual recommended dose is one 100 mg tablet.

Method

Take one tablet once a day by mouth, with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 100 mg.

  • Kidney problems (sometimes requiring dialysis)
  • Muscle pain
  • Back pain
  • Interstitial lung disease
  • Blistering skin condition (bullous pemphigoid)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to sitagliptin or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant or breastfeed.
  • Children and teenagers under 18 years old should not use this medicine.
  • Stop taking the medicine and see a doctor right away if you get severe stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without nausea and vomiting. These could be signs of pancreatitis (inflamed pancreas).
  • Stop taking the medicine and see a doctor right away if you get a serious allergic reaction like a rash, hives, blisters on the skin, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat that causes trouble breathing or swallowing.

  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had pancreas problems (like pancreatitis), gallstones, alcohol problems, high levels of fat in your blood (triglycerides), type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or kidney problems.
  • If you take this medicine with other diabetes medicines like sulfonylureas or insulin, you might get low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

Category C
