How to Use

Dosage

Typically one 100 mg tablet. Your doctor may prescribe lower doses (like 25 mg or 50 mg) if you have kidney problems.

Method

Take by mouth once a day, with or without food and drink.

Important

The usual maximum is one 100 mg tablet per day, as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more than your doctor tells you.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to sitagliptin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience severe and constant stomach pain, with or without nausea and vomiting, as these can be signs of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
  • If you get blisters on your skin, tell your doctor. This could be a sign of a serious skin condition, and your doctor may ask you to stop taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had pancreas problems, gallstones, alcohol dependence, or high triglyceride levels, as these can increase your risk of pancreatitis.
  • Also tell your doctor if you have type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis (a severe diabetes complication), kidney problems, or have had an allergic reaction to sitagliptin.

  • If you take this medicine with certain other diabetes drugs (like sulfonylureas or insulin), you might get low blood sugar. Your doctor may adjust your dose.
  • This medicine is not for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • This medicine can sometimes cause dizziness or sleepiness, which might affect your ability to drive or use machines.
