How to Use

Dosage

One 100 mg film-coated tablet.

Method

Take by mouth, with or without food and drink.

Important

One 100 mg tablet once daily, unless your doctor prescribes a lower dose due to kidney problems.

  • low platelet count
  • kidney problems (sometimes needing dialysis)
  • joint pain
  • muscle pain
  • back pain
  • lung disease (interstitial lung disease)
  • skin blisters (bullous pemphigoid)

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and contact a doctor immediately if you have severe stomach pain, with or without vomiting, as this could be a sign of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
  • If you get a severe allergic reaction (rash, hives, skin blisters, swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat with breathing difficulties), stop taking this medicine and contact a doctor immediately.
  • Tell your doctor if you get blisters on your skin, as this could be a sign of bullous pemphigoid, and your doctor may ask you to stop taking this medicine.
  • This medicine may cause low blood sugar if taken with sulfonylurea medicines or insulin. Your doctor may need to adjust the dose of these other medicines.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had kidney problems.

  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had any pancreas disease, like pancreatitis.
  • Tell your doctor if you have gallstones, a history of alcohol abuse, or very high levels of triglycerides (a type of fat in the blood), as these can increase your risk of pancreatitis.
  • Tell your doctor if you have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious diabetes complication with high blood sugar, rapid weight loss, nausea, or vomiting).
  • This medicine should not be used by children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking digoxin (a heart medicine), as blood levels of digoxin may need to be checked.
