How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one 100 mg tablet. Your doctor may prescribe smaller doses (like 25 mg or 50 mg) if you have kidney problems.

Method

Take by mouth once daily, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than the dose your doctor prescribed in one day. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

  • Interstitial lung disease (a serious lung problem)
  • Skin blisters (a type of skin rash)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to sitagliptin or any other ingredients.
  • Stop taking this medicine and call your doctor right away if you get severe stomach pain that does not go away, with or without feeling sick or throwing up. These could be signs of a serious problem with your pancreas (pancreatitis).
  • If you get a serious allergic reaction like rash, hives, skin blisters, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat that makes it hard to breathe or swallow, stop taking this medicine and call your doctor right away.
  • If you notice blisters on your skin, tell your doctor as this could be a sign of a skin condition called bullous pemphigoid. Your doctor may ask you to stop this medicine.
  • If you take this medicine with other diabetes medicines like a sulfonylurea or insulin, you might get low blood sugar. Your doctor might change the dose of your other medicine.

  • This medicine is not for people with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or children under 18 years old.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had pancreas problems (like pancreatitis), gallstones, alcohol dependence, or very high levels of triglycerides (a type of fat in your blood). These can increase the risk of pancreatitis.
