How to Use

Dosage

Dosage is individually adjusted. For painful muscle spasms, the typical tablet dose is 2-4 mg three times daily. For muscle stiffness due to neurological conditions, treatment starts with up to 6 mg daily in three divided doses, and can be increased to 12-24 mg daily, divided into 3-4 doses. For prolonged-release capsules, the typical starting dose is one 6 mg capsule once daily, which can be gradually increased, and for most patients, 12 mg once daily is sufficient.

Method

Tablets are taken 3 times a day; in severe cases, your doctor may prescribe an additional dose at night. Prolonged-release capsules are taken once a day.

Important

The maximum daily dose for tablets is 36 mg. The maximum daily dose for prolonged-release capsules is 24 mg.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to tizanidine or any other ingredients of this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease.
  • Do not use if you are taking fluvoxamine (an antidepressant).
  • Do not use if you are taking ciprofloxacin (an antibiotic).
  • This medicine can cause a severe drop in blood pressure, which may lead to fainting or circulatory problems.

  • Do not change the dose or stop the medication without your doctor's advice, to avoid side effects like increased blood pressure or rapid heartbeat.
  • Tell your doctor if you have symptoms of liver problems, such as unexplained nausea, loss of appetite, or fatigue.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose may need to be reduced.
  • Be cautious if you are elderly.
  • Sirdalud/Sirdalud Retard is not recommended for children (under 18 years old).
  • Do not consume alcohol during Sirdalud/Sirdalud Retard treatment, as alcohol may enhance the sedative effects of the medicine.
  • This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as it may harm the unborn child or infant.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if the medicine causes dizziness, drowsiness, or symptoms of low blood pressure.
