How to Use

Dosage

The amount you take depends on your child's age: 2.5 ml for children under 6 months, 5 ml for 6 months to 1 year, 10 ml for 2-4 years, and 15 ml for 5-12 years. Take this dose 2 to 3 times a day.

Method

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. If you are not sure, ask them for advice.

Important

The most you should take in one day depends on age: 7.5 ml for children under 6 months, 15 ml for 6 months to 1 year, 30 ml for 2-4 years, and 45 ml for 5-12 years.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Your heart beats faster.
  • Higher blood pressure.
  • Shaking in your muscles.
  • Trouble sleeping or feeling anxious.
  • Feeling sick to your stomach.
  • Feeling tired.
  • Constipation (if used for a long time).
  • Difficulty urinating (in older men).
RARE
  • Headache (from too much medicine).
  • Stomach upset (from too much medicine).
  • Diarrhea (from too much medicine).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid gland, heart failure, coronary artery disease, or an enlarged prostate.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine.
  • Taking this medicine with sedatives (like sleeping pills or anxiety medicine) can make you very sleepy, cause serious breathing problems, or lead to a coma. Tell your doctor if you are taking any sedatives.
  • This medicine can cause dependence. Use it only for a short time.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Do not use in patients with ischaemic heart disease. Avoid use in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include insomnia, tremor, palpitations, elevated blood pressure and urinary retention. Consider potential interactions. (updated 5.6.2023)
